You've been selected, you've got the email, and now you want to actually get the beta on your console. Here's exactly how the download process works on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. There's no PC version, so everything happens through the console stores and the Rockstar Beta Center app.
The Download Process
Once you have your invitation email in hand, follow these steps:
- Open your invitation email. Inside you'll find a unique key and a link to the Rockstar Beta Center app.
- Download the Rockstar Beta Center app on your console. It's available through the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store -- the email links directly to the right listing.
- Open the Beta Center app and enter your unique key. This completes your registration and ties the beta to your account.
- Claim your redeem code. The app generates one code -- for PlayStation or Xbox, whichever you selected. One per user.
- Redeem the code on your console's store. On PS5, go to the PlayStation Store and select "Redeem Code." On Xbox, open the Microsoft Store and choose "Redeem a code." Paste it in.
- The beta starts downloading. Sit tight -- it's a big file.
Download Sizes
Here's what you're looking at for storage:
- PlayStation 5: ~138 GB
- Xbox Series X: ~140 GB
- Xbox Series S: ~128 GB (lower-resolution textures)
The install must go on your console's internal SSD. External USB drives won't work for this title. Make sure you've got enough space cleared before you start -- the console requirements page has the specifics.
Download Times
On a solid 50 Mbps connection, expect roughly 30 to 45 minutes for the full download. Slower connections will obviously take longer. A wired ethernet connection is recommended over Wi-Fi for stability, especially with a file this size.
If Something Goes Wrong
Downloads stalling mid-way? Try pausing and resuming from the console's download queue. If the redeem code isn't working, double-check that you're entering it on the correct platform's store -- a PlayStation code won't work on Xbox and vice versa. For anything else, the troubleshooting guide covers the most common installation hiccups.
