Good news if you're wondering whether your setup can handle the beta: it's console-only, so there aren't pages of GPU benchmarks to wade through. If you've got a PlayStation 5 or an Xbox Series X|S, you're in. That said, there are a few things worth knowing about storage, internet, and what each console delivers in terms of performance.
PlayStation 5
- Console
- PS5 (Standard or Digital Edition)
- Storage needed
- Approximately 138 GB on the internal SSD. External USB drives aren't supported for this title -- it has to live on the internal NVMe or an expansion SSD that meets Sony's specs.
- Internet
- 25 Mbps minimum recommended, especially for online multiplayer.
- Quality Mode
- 4K at 30fps -- prioritizes visual fidelity with enhanced lighting and draw distances.
- Performance Mode
- 1440p at 60fps -- smoother gameplay, still looks gorgeous.
Xbox Series X
- Console
- Xbox Series X
- Storage needed
- Approximately 140 GB on the internal SSD. The Seagate Expansion Card works too, but standard USB external drives won't.
- Internet
- 25 Mbps minimum recommended.
- Quality Mode
- 4K at 30fps with Dolby Vision HDR support.
- Performance Mode
- 1440p at 60fps.
Xbox Series S
The Series S runs the beta at 1080p and 30fps. Ray tracing is limited compared to its bigger sibling, and the download is smaller -- around 128 GB -- since it uses lower-resolution textures. With only 364 GB of usable internal storage, you'll probably need to clear some space before installing.
Internet and Network
A wired ethernet connection is strongly recommended over Wi-Fi, particularly for multiplayer. The beta's dedicated servers target sub-30ms latency, and a flaky wireless connection can undermine that. If you run into connectivity problems, the troubleshooting guide has NAT type fixes and port forwarding steps.
