Engine and Technology
- RAGE (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine)
- The proprietary engine powering Grand Theft Auto VI. Handles rendering, physics, streaming, AI, and the seamless open world of Leonida with zero loading screens.
- EUPHORIA
- A biomechanical animation engine by NaturalMotion that generates real-time physics-driven character animations. In GTA 6, NPCs react dynamically to impacts, falls, and environmental forces.
- Ray Tracing
- Hardware-accelerated lighting technique simulating how light bounces off surfaces. GTA 6 Beta uses it for reflections, global illumination, and shadows on PS5 and Xbox Series X in Quality Mode.
- NVMe SSD
- Non-Volatile Memory Express solid-state drive. The internal storage technology in PS5 and Xbox Series X|S that enables GTA 6's seamless world streaming and fast load times.
Testing Program
- Rockstar Beta Center
- Dedicated console app for GTA 6 Beta testers. Manages builds, distributes codes, handles bug reporting, and tracks tester reputation scores.
- Redeem Code
- A unique alphanumeric code claimed through the Rockstar Beta Center. Entered in the PlayStation Store or Xbox Store to download the GTA 6 Beta client.
- Unique Key
- A one-time code sent via invitation email from Rockstar. Used inside the Beta Center app to complete registration and unlock your redeem code.
- Tester Reputation
- A score earned by submitting useful bug reports. Higher reputation unlocks priority access to new builds and exclusive rewards.
- NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement)
- A legal contract prohibiting testers from sharing GTA 6 Beta content -- screenshots, recordings, or gameplay details -- without written authorization from Rockstar.
Game World
- Leonida
- The fictional U.S. state in GTA 6, inspired by Florida. Contains Vice City and surrounding areas including wetlands, farmlands, and Port Gellhorn.
- Vice City
- The main metropolitan area within Leonida, inspired by Miami. Includes Ocean Drive, Starfish Island, Little Haiti, and Vice Beach.
- Jason & Lucia
- The dual protagonists of Grand Theft Auto VI. Players can switch between them during free roam and certain missions, each offering unique abilities and story perspectives.
