What exactly do you get when you're accepted into the testing program? Quite a lot, actually. Rockstar isn't running a stripped-down demo here -- this is a full-fat slice of Vice City and the surrounding state of Leonida, complete with story content, online multiplayer, and the deepest vehicle roster the series has ever seen. Let's break it down.
Rockstar Beta Center
Think of the Beta Center app as mission control. It's where you manage builds, check for updates, submit bug reports, and track your tester reputation. There's also a private forum baked right in -- a place where testers swap findings, coordinate multiplayer sessions, and flag issues they've spotted. For the reporting side of things, the bug reporting guide walks you through how to write reports that actually get noticed by QA.
Open World Access
You're not locked into a tiny sandbox. The beta opens up all of Leonida -- a sprawling, Florida-inspired setting that dwarfs anything Rockstar's put in a pre-release test before. Seven major areas are explorable: Ocean Drive, Starfish Island, Little Haiti, Vice Beach, the Grassrivers wetlands, Port Gellhorn, and the rural farmlands out west. No loading screens between them. Just seamless transitions powered by the RAGE engine and the console's internal SSD.
This is the largest open world Rockstar has ever opened up during a testing phase -- and it's not even close.
128-Player Multiplayer
Remember the 30-player cap from GTA V Online? Gone. The next-gen GTA Online supports up to 128 players in a single session, running on dedicated servers with a 60Hz tick rate. Heists require 4-to-8-player teams and span multiple Vice City locations. There's a property management system, dynamic world events, and a reputation system that rewards consistent play. More details in the multiplayer guide.
The Exclusive Prologue
Here's something that won't be in the retail version: an exclusive prologue chapter that sets the stage for the main storyline. It's a narrative introduction built specifically for testers, and once the beta window closes, this content goes away for good. Worth experiencing while you can.
Vehicles, Characters, and More
Over 200 vehicles -- cars, boats, aircraft, motorcycles -- are in the current build. The character creation system is the most detailed in GTA history. And the dynamic radio system uses AI-driven playlists that react to in-game events, with procedural news broadcasts that reference what's actually happening in your session. It's wild.
